Keeping the "why" alive
Featured Dad: Kyle Adams
My daughter is seven, and she is full of questions.
How does this work?
Why does that happen?
What if we tried this instead?
Over the past year, I've learned that the best thing I can do as her dad is get out of the way and let her curiosity lead.
When I stay patient and give her space to explore, she grows in ways I couldn't have planned for.
She's stopped taking everything at face value.
She wants to research and discover with me, then eagerly tell everyone what she found out. Watching her mind expand is one of the best parts of being her dad right now.
My job is to keep that alive. I don't want her to believe things just because someone said it.
I want her to keep asking questions and keep figuring out how things actually work.
QUOTABLE
“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”
2 Timothy 3:16-17
This verse pulls me back to God's Word whenever I'm unsure what to do as a father. And it reassures me that I don't have to figure it out alone. Everything I need to equip myself and my family is already there.
KYLE RECOMMENDS
Slow Productivity by Cal Newport.
As a dad, this book hit different. It's about finding real accomplishment without burning out and rethinking what productivity actually means.
Highly recommend it if you're trying to do meaningful work without running yourself into the ground.
